Collector Praveen Kumar has reviewed public health condition at conference hall with the representatives of private hospitals across Vizag City in the view of increasing dengue, malaria and other viral fevers in Visakhapatnam district. District medical officers, staff members of King George Hospital, IMA, APNA and Andhra Medical College also have attended the review meeting.
‘Private hospital lab technicians are not authorised to dengue cases to the patients unless they got confirmation for virology laboratory at Andhra Medical College’ said Praveen Kumar. Private hospital managements should see that details of dengue cases should be sent to district medical and health officer, on day to day basis. KGH superintendent should see that tribal cell doctors and hospital staff should work together in providing tests and treatment. Private hospitals should contact tribal cell number 8985305509 in KGH and 9440867366 for reaching tribal cell, when they received tribal patients from Vizag Agency Area, he added.
‘Rural private hospitals can send blood sample to NTR Hospital at Anakapalli’ said DMHO Dr Ramesh while speaking on the occasion. One should be declared dengue only after confirming Elisa test done in this hospital, he added.
‘Medall staff should complete the report within 24 hours after receiving the samples from private hospital’ said DCHS Dr Nayak.
‘There should not be shortage of testing kits in E Clinics’ said GVMC chief medical officer Dr Hemanth.
KGH superintendent Dr L Arjuna, Andhra Medical College micro biology professor Dr Apparao and others have expressed their opinions and submitted suggestions for controlling dengue menace in the district.
