Minister for civil supplies, Pattipati Pulla Rao has convened a meeting with G Ravi Babu, director of civil supplies, Damodar, inspector general of legal metrology, Ranganatha Swamy, joint controller and other officials at Circuit House. In order to maintain public health, the minister has decided for supplying millets in place of rice under public distribution system from next month onwards.

‘ we are introducing ‘1100’ Toll Free Number for receiving complaints against the organizations that are collecting more money from the consumers, than maximum retail price’ said Pulla Rao. We have strictly ordered I Max Theaters for selling food stuff and soft drinks at MRP rates and asked them for not collecting GST on MRP. Anna Canteens are drawing more crowds in urban areas and this will be extended to rural areas in near future, he added.

The minister went for personal surprise check in the market to know the practical reality of petrol bunks. He observed the billing process and tank filling process at Indian Oil Petrol Bunk at Seetammadhara Rytu Bazaar. After getting a doubt he asked the petrol boy to fill the measurement container and found that there is a difference of 20 ml for a liter of petrol filled as per the machine’s reading.

‘It is very sad that even after abolishing dual CIM system at petrol bunks, the consumers are being cheated like this by owners’ said Pulla Rao. We are going to convey a meeting with owners and give instructions to them for maintaining both quality and quantity strictly, he added.
