Visakhapatnam collector Praveen Kumar has participated in Grama Darshini program at G Venkatapuram village of Makavarapalem mandal as per the government orders. Narsipatnam RDO Visweswar Rao, mandal special officer Srinivas Kumar, mandal development officer Udaya Sri, tahashildar V V Raman, ex surpanch Satyavathi and others took part in the program along with villagers. Collector roamed in the streets, inspected Anganwadi centers, schools and other government offices and issued ordered on the spot after observing an issue. He motivated the officials to make all villages as model villages after Grama Darshini program.
‘If officials are in touch with peoples’ representatives and villagers on regular basis then there will be no problems at all in our villages’ said Praveen Kumar. With the help of MNREGA, government has decided to lay 800 kms of CC Roads in rural areas. Local officials should identify the damaged roads in the village and send proposals for laying roads under this scheme. Panchayat funds can be used for setting up drainage system in the village for maintaining public health. After completing drainage works, saplings should be planted on both sides of the roads to maintain greenery as per the environmental standards. I had noticed that fluoride content is more in local water and Sujala Shravanthi scheme should be operated for providing safe drinking water to the villagers. Schools should be supplied with Sujala Sharvanthi water for the sake of students’ health. All coolies in the village should be arranged job cards under NREGA scheme and details of Praja Sadhikarata survey must be posted in online portal, after completing the survey. Officials should spend their time in villages and can leave Grama Darshini program after spending one hour. Solid waste treatment plant must become operational by October 2nd, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, he added.
