Visakhapatnam collector Praveen Kumar has reviewed the status of SC, ST Atrocity cases at collector conference hall. Ramana Murthy, deputy director of social welfare department, assistant commissioners of police Dr G Prem, KP Kumar, Deputy Superintendents of Police of Anakapalli and Narsipatnam, SC, ST Atrocities Prevention, district vigilance and monitoring committee members R Sanyasi Dora, Ch Rambabu, Etalapaka Sujath, public prosecutor S Srinvas and other officials took part in the meeting.
‘Officials should pay compensation to the victims in SC, ST cases’ said Praveen Kumar. All the victims should be paid first installment of compensation and report should be sent. Investigation also should be completed at police end and charge sheets should be files within time. Deputy Director should write a letter and seek directions in the case of non SCs filing atrocity cases and receiving compensation, he added.
‘We have registered 64 atrocity cases from January 2018 to June 2018 and paid Rs 32,68,750 to 69 victims, said Ramana Murthy while replying to the question.
‘We have succeeded in solving half of the cases after filing charge sheets in the respective cases’ said ACP Prem.
