Machavarapu Venkata Chenchurama Maruthi Subbaraya Sharma widely known as MAA Sharma has established Koppurapu Kavula Kala Peetham, 16 years ago. He used to give awards to the persons who have contributed to Telugu literature as part of Peetham’s annual celebrations. This year, he has chosen famous Tollywood lyricist ‘Siri Vennala’ Seetha Rama Sastry for National Eminence Award along with ‘Sahasravadhani’ Kadimella Vara Prasad with Avadhana Puraskaram instituted in the memory of Kopparapu Sodara Kavulu, in association with AP Language and Cultural department (creativity, cultural organization).
AP Assembly deputy speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad is the chief guest of the award presentation ceremony at Kala Bharathi auditorium Pithapuram Colony, Maddilapalem. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, principal secretary L V Prasad, Kala Tapaswi Kasinadhuni Viswanath, comedian Brahmanandam, Padma Sri Dr Kutikuppala Surya Rao, veteran editor Potturi Venkateswar Rao, Vijay Nirman company owner Surapaneni Vijay Kumar and others have graced the occasion.
‘Our government will erect statues of Kopprapu Poets at their native place Narsarao Peta, Guntur district’ said Buddha Prasad. We are so lucky about to have writers who instill humanity rather than pedantry, in their songs in Tollywood films, he added.
‘We have introduced Dance and Music in this year D S C syllabus and life history of these poets will be also added to the syllabus of school students’ said Ganta Srinivas Rao.
‘A museum will be established at Amravati with important art forms of Telugus’ said LV Prasad.
‘Kopparapu Brothers have added colors to Telugu poems’ said Potturi Venkateswar Rao.
‘The efforts put on by MAA Sharma to save Telugu literature and art forms, is laudable’ said Viswanath.
‘One should improve his knowledge through literature’ said Brahmanandam.
The program was presided over by Dr Betavolu Rama Brahmam. MAA Sharma’s recital of Kopparapu poems has enthralled the audience.
