Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Commissioner M Hari Narayanan held a review meeting with additional commissioner (project) T Sakala Reddy, deputy commissioner R Sommannarayana, superintending engineer Pallam Raju and with available zonal commissioners at conference hall.
‘All revenue inspectors and tax collectors should concentrate more on collecting second half property tax’ said Narayana. All developmental activities are entirely dependent on the tax collections. Concerned tax official will be taken action if the set target was not achieved, he added.
‘Alternative arrangements must be made for collecting solid waste in the advent of proposed strike by CITU members. Sanitary staff should advise the public to keep their waste in homes or carefully drop them in dumper bins. All should be very careful even though alternative arrangements were made to counter the strike, so that viral fevers will not surface again as in the case of last fortnight. Local staff should take the help of self help group members, sadhiakra mitras and NGOs in maintaining the cleanliness of the smart city, he added more.
‘Solid waste must be monitored from each house by collecting staff’ said Hari Narayanan. People are throwing everything in drains such as empty cool drink bottles, coconut shells, beer bottles, liquor bottles, plastic bottles, covers and other solid things which are blocking the smooth flow of drainage. We will remove the concerned contractor Kalyan if the collection process of solid waste from the houses is not improved, he added further.
