Rana Uppalapati

Rana Uppalapati is a skater on a mission! The renowned international skater, who hails from Vizag, has taken on a humongous skating marathon for raising awareness and money towards girl child education under the ‘Indian Golden Quadrilateral’ initiative funded by Titan Company Limited and Tata Group.
As a part of the initiative, Rana is skating his way around the Golden Quadrilateral route of around 6000 km across India; touching base at all major cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Rana has started his journey on September 5th from Hosur near Bangalore, and has completed 4500 km of his journey and raised Rs. 3.6 crores so far.
While making a pit-stop in his journey at his hometown of Vizag, the 37 year old skater was greeted with cheers from a huge crowd at Siripuram’s VUDA Children’s Arena.
Talking about his journey till now, Rana said, “In the last 70 days, we have interacted with at least 5 lakh people across various parts of the country and raised ₹3.60 crore, which would be enough for educating close to 10,000 girls. But our target is to provide education for 25,000 girls and I am sure in the next 30 days, we would achieve it.”
Still around 2000 km away from completing this herculean task, he hopes to complete the milestone on December 18th back at the starting point at Hosur.
“Apart from educating underprivileged girl children, we are also creating awareness among children on safety, especially on good touch and bad touch,” he adds.
