It is the time of the year for people of Vizag to let their hair down and get ready for the yearly Carnival of Vizag – Visakha Utsav. Set to take place on the RK Beach from 28th to 30th December, this time around it is going to be bigger and better than earlier, according to HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao who spoke to media persons from the Governor’s Bungalow. Apart from a whopping Rs. 3.50 crore being allotted by the state government, a total of Rs. 1 crore has been allotted by VMRDA and GVMC. This time around along with the usual cultural programs from singers, dancers and artists, an air-show by Indian Navy, floral show at the central park, and an exhibition of miniature models of Andhra Pradesh’s temples by endowments departments are being planned. The event which is going to be opened by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, is touted to be taking inspiration from the Brazilian Carnival.
