Vignan’s Institute of Information Technology (Autonomous) organized a One Day Work Shop on Thin Films in Advanced Technological Applications. Dr G Mohan Rao, Professor from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore participated as resource person as well as chief guest for the event. Before workshop commences, Dr Mohan Rao and Dr V Madhusudan Rao, Rector of the instituted have inaugurated Thin Film lab in the campus.
Dr G Mohan Rao addressed the workshops delegates and students during the inauguration of workshop and said that thin film technology is an interdisciplinary area in which both engineering and applied sciences students can carry our research activities to develop solutions to current issues. He also highlighted that though applied research, recent e technological changes across the globe can be under stood. He also said that Nano Technology is emerging technology in which students will get abundant opportunities.
Dr MV Rao explained the role of scientific research in society. He also said that Nobel Prizes in Sciences will be given to the scientists at the age of 70-80 as committee sees that results of inventions and hypotheses for one or two decades after the introduction.
Dr K Yelleswara Rao, convener of the workshop briefed the significance of thin film technology in making sensor batteries. He has received a project grant from DST for setting up thin films lab to carry research this technology for 3 years.
