Good news for Vizagites! The Vizag metro is getting nearer to seeing the light of the day as the authorities are busy finalizing the nitty-gritties of the metro. On Wednesday, in a meeting called to discuss the developments of the Vizag metro rail project in Amaravati, the officials made the Visakhapatnam Metro Region Development Authority (VMRDA) the main authority in the Vizag metro rail project. According to the VMRDA Commissioner Basanth Kumar, who was one of participants in the meeting, VMRDA would be responsible for ticket sales, selecting of metro stations, and other crucial decisions. Apart from that, a resolution was taken in the meeting to approach the state government for getting a Chief Executive Officer for the metro project as soon as possible. The prestigious project, which is going to put Vizag on the metro map along the likes of Delhi, Mumbai and co., will cost around Rs. 8300 crore, and will cover 42.55 km along 3 corridors – from Gajuwaka to Kommadi (31 km), Gurudwara to Old Post Office (5.55 km), Thatichetlapalem to Chinna Waltair (6 km).
