The former Indian cricket captain was in the ‘City of Destiny’ to present trophies to winners in MVV T10 Champions League.
Hello Vizagites, do you feel some sportive vibes in the city air? That’s because the legend of Indian cricket and former World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev was at Gurajada Kalakshetram, Vizag on Tuesday to present trophies to winners of MVV T10 Champions League. Giving a speech on the occasion, he reminisced about his cricketing career and the difficulties he faced in making it big. He attributed his success at cricket to his love for the game and expressed wonder at how cricket has become such a big phenomenon and requested people to give encouragement to youngsters wanting to pursue cricket. At the crowd’s thunderous response to his every line, he joked that he wasn’t a politician who was here to ask for votes, and thanked the people of Vizag for their love for cricket and stated that Vizag was among his favourite cities.
After him, MVV Satyanarayana, who organised the tournament, spoke about how MVV T10 was the biggest cricket tournament held in the city with 500 teams battling for the trophy over 40 days.
Later, he and Kapil Dev gave away the trophy and prize money of 2 lakhs to the winning team of Vamshi Krishna’s Eleven.
